to produce art is to create self-growth.
Through art we complete our unformed thoughts and ideas. Art helps us assess the value of ordinary things. It helps us gain balance by observing, judging and appreciating things we don’t normally interact with. Art produces hope in our hearts, and validates our sorrows.
God said make a way for yourself!
After returning home from college with no available employment in my field. I made the decision to create my own employment opportunity by starting my first business called it’S. M.Y. art, LLC.
Currently I supply custom art pieces to local people and businesses. I have coordinated my own fine art exhibition, established a children’s face painting business, and began a popular paint party enterprise. I’ve been a guest speaker for youth empowerment events, and given the opportunity to shoot as a videographer for productions. Now, I’m a sought after live painter. God is truly blessing me and I don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon!
Shonté Young is a multidisciplinary visual artist. Formally educated with a Bachelor’s degree in visual effects and motion graphics, Shonté approaches each project with the passion of a professional. Young’s work is a meditation of shapes and color – a language of movement, freedom, nature, and messages that invite her viewers to share in her creative process.
Part therapy and part dream, Young builds her own creations that combine fine art and performance art. Shonté uses an unorthodox fusion of basic geometric shapes to create her pieces.
Underlying Young’s work is a quest for growth – her own, discovered and refined in the development of identity, self care, virtue and further explored in her “building blocks”. Her artwork has appeared in DelawareToday; Art Buzz Blog, Celebration’s on Market, and a number of other art exhibitions.
